Mamushkas...

My 2 year old loves Russian nesting dolls and she calls them "mamushkas" :). When asked what design she would like on a sweater, she answer without a doubt: "Mamushkas". So this is my first adventure in intarsia designing :)

Her smile when I gave it to her was PRECIOUS.

More girly things

I have to say girly things are my inspiration lately. No only they are a pleasure to make, but even little girls appreciate them!!! :) (I love my boys to pieces, but I can't recall them being exited by my knitting garments:) ) LOL

This cardi was based on Swing Thing by Theresa Belville, but I ended up modifying it heavily. I found a wonderful stitch that I wanted to try on the borders and it worked out beautifully.

A little top

Seeing so many "pillow" dresses on Pinterest just gave me the idea of knitting a top for my little one using a very easy "slip stitch" technique for interest.

Basically I knitted a tube in the round, divided it at the armpit level (without working any decreases) and finish both front and back flaps with a 2 in ribbing. This rib is then folded over and sewn inwards to create the casing for the ribbon (I knitted the ribbon, too, but next time I'll use a real ribbon... easier and less boring!!!!! Knitting such a long strip was no fun:))))

Upcycling :)

I just love to find good yarn at a thrift store :) This particular project was made using a wonderful blend of wool and alpaca, very soft, warm and light!!! When working with chunky warn, the weight of the final garment is important to me, so this yarn was ideal.... It would have cost a small fortune to buy new, so...

And after a few hours (really, it was super fast!!!)

Shawl

This shawl is a present for my mother in law. I knitted the main body using a very simple pattern, "One skein shawl", but I wanted something bigger so I improvised the crochet border. I am working on a chart for it, so it will be available soon...

More handmade toys

This one was for a little boy: 
This wonderful 3D shape is a free pattern, Celestine by Norah Gaughan.

I created it as a toy, so I experimented with stripes of all kinds, some intarsia, etc.
The pattern is so easy you can quickly memorize it. I even did away with the stitch markers after the first point was completed.
Lots of fun to make, I’ll make it again :)



The second one was for a little girl

I was totally inspired by Poppy by Ysolda Teague

But...being pressed by time, I cheated…big time…

 I made the doll first (sewing it by hand) and then knitted the dress and shoes… I

am making a bit of a wardrobe, though…it’s fun!!! For the curly hair I just used 100% wool from a sweater that I unraveled.  Natural curls in no time!!! :)

Simplicity - Free Pattern

Simplicity jumper is a very easy project, and I just love the tweed I used!!! I designed it and I am offering the pattern for free at my Craftsy and Ravelry Stores.

Something for me, too

This is my version of the Posh Wedding Shrug by Cecily Glowik MacDonald. 
I modified it slightly (ok, a lot!) :

Made it with straight needles and sew it (faster for me that way!

I made it in the shape of a long rectangle, no seams in the back.

I used the second suggested stitch, which works better if you prefer to work it as one piece.

I added a row of the lace on the back, so it would cover a little more.
The final trimming was done in crochet.

Koolhaas

This beautiful pattern is Koolhass by Jared Flood. It is originally designed to fit an adult, but I modified it so My husband and daughter could have the same one. It worked our beautifully.

Just made these today

100% upcycled handpainted stitch markers

(I used bamboo beads from a place mat I got fro $1 at a clearance... :) They are very light!

A very girly girl top, very simple to work and yielding awesome results! :)

The top is made in the round and is constructed from the bottom up.

My first design - A little shrug

A very sweet, versatile shrug to complete any nice holiday set, or even for everyday “glamour”. It has a little bit of everything to keep you from getting bored: ruffles, short rows, bobbles and easy cabling, and even a a bit of i-cord.
